Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine how professionals in Kolkata, India manage their WLB (WLB), with a particular emphasis on how well they manage to balance work and personal obligations. WLB is perceived and implemented differently as a result of the challenges posed by the changing dynamics of the workforce, particularly the growing participation of females. 200 professionals from the corporate, educational, and healthcare sectors are included in the study, which uses a quantitative methodology and a standardised WLB scale. The results indicate notable disparities based on gender, with female professionals facing greater difficulties than their male counterparts in meeting personal demands and organising their schedules. The findings indicate that cultural norms and a dearth of institutional support are factors in these differences, underscoring the need for companies to put in place supporting policies that encourage a better WLB for all employees. The study finds that addressing gender- specific WLB concerns is crucial for boosting employee satisfaction, productivity, and general workplace harmony.
